Anna's solo-created short "33 Breaths" was a finalist of the 2020 Single-Take Challenge.

Her film, "Stay" has been included in the Official Selections of the Manhattan Film Festival, the Central Florida Film Festival, The NewFilmmakers New York, and has received a Special Mention from the Ouchy Film Awards Winter 2016. 

As a film director Anna's credits include "The War in Heaven" (still in production) and "Bedtime."

She has produced and co-written "Life After Her," a 30 minutes film shot in New York,  winner of the Platinum Award at the NYC Indie Film Awards 2017. The film has been selected by the Short Corner of the Cannes Film Festival (May 2017) and has also received an Honorable Mention from the Rochester International Film Festival. It has screened at the Grove Film Festival, at the New Hope Film Festival (April 2017), and in July 2017, at the Madrid International Film Festival where it received a nomination for Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress in a Lead Role.

THEATER / DIRECTING

As a theater director and producer Anna's work has been daring and experimental, and has been seen at the Vanderbilt Hall of Grand Central Station; The Kitchen for  a BAM event, The Players Club; Shetler Theatre 54; Joyce Soho; St. Peter's Church; American Museum of Natural History; Theater for the New City; and Access Theater.

 

Anna has been the Artistic Director of BdA the arts [enter] a theatre-film laboratory in New York. Collaborations staged with Domenica Cameron-Scorsese; Kevin Bacon and Michael Bacon; Susan Batson, Brian Dennehy, and Roberto Benigni, among others. 

 

Anna has Co-Produced "Tribeca in Rome" - a cultural partnership between the Tribeca Film Festival and the Rome Film Festival ‘s first edition- including the Steps and Stars Award received by Robert De Niro. She has also produced Discovering the New Italian Cinema - a film festival presented at the Quad Cinema.

Stay

(Film) New York. 1 Bedroom Apartment. 9 People. 5 Stories. A woman of Serbian origins, left with no family, splits a room in three parts and rents them out in her one-bedroom apartment in the Greenwich Village, New York. "Stay" has been included in the official selection of the Manhattan Film Festival, the Central Florida Film Festival, The NewFilmmakers New York in 2014, and has received a Special Mention from the Ouchy Film Awards Winter 2016. Role: Director, Producer and Writer.

Life After Her

(Film)  New York. Through the eyes of a young man and a young Christian girl who are both suffering losses and have different beliefs, the film examines our mortality and our fears, as a mean to celebrate life. Role: Producer, Co-Writer, and on-set Acting Coach.

The War in Heaven

(Film and Theater) New York. Written by Sam Shepard and Joseph Chaikin and re-conceived by Anna Maria Cianciulli as a mixed media theatre piece, "The War in Heaven" is a poetic monologue about an Angel, who after crashing on earth has lost all sense of personal order and destiny. This mixed media project has featured an original 16mm film, a postmodern set of transparent appliances, and 3D figure sculptures. Role: Director, Producer and Writer.

Fashion Independence

(Multimedia video and live performance installation) New York - Vanderbilt  Hall of Grand Central Station. Two short films of three and a half minutes, each one projected on fifteen tulle panels. Each screen a different metropolitan situation, governed by rush - but also by the desire to know each other, to discuss, fight, and find even the time to love.The dresses? Beautiful. Sa Coia

(Theater) New York. Joyce Soho.  An evening–length work integrating theatre, dance, and video projection. "1945: Sa Coia" tells the story of a scandalous wedding that takes place in a small town on the island of Sardinia during the final months of the Second World War. Role: Producer and Performer.

Tribeca Film
Festival Rome

(Public Event and Film Festival) New York - Rome. Anna was a member of the Tribeca Film Festival Committee-Rome, established to coordinate a cultural partnership between the Tribeca Film Festival and the Rome Film Festival for the first edition of the Roman festival, including the Steps and Stars Award received by Robert De Niro. Role: Co-Creative Director and Co-Producer.

Magical Night

(Theater) New York. BdA the arts [enter] Theater.  An evening of music and entertainment to salute the conclusion of BdA’s event filled year. Role: Producer and Creative Director. Co-Hosted with Domenica Cameron-Scorsese.

Ticket to Eternity

New York. BdA the arts [enter] Theater. A stinging satire of our culture’s obsession with Celebrity and the Press, is the story of a young woman as she navigates her bizarre rise to fame-dodging her delightfully dysfunctional family that seems to pop out of everyone she meets on the way. Featuring Domenica Cameron Scorsese, Michael Sorvino (in the photo below) Rebecca Wisocky, and John Dagget. Directed by Michael Goldfried. Role: Producer.

Social Sculpture No 1

(A video installation-happening) New York, The Kitchen. Anita Sieff projects fragments of her interviews with12 artists form different disciplines onto a printed astrological chart. As the images move to to different rhythms the audience can follow the personal journey of each artist becoming part of the evolution of human consciousness. Role: Co-Producer and Guest Artist.

Screeching Chalk

(Theater) New York, Access Theater. An adaptation of Anton Chekhov's "The Wedding" and "Smoking is Bad for You," Chekhov Now Festival by the Free Mistake Project and BdA the arts [enter] Role: Producer and Performer.

Discovering the
New Italian Cinema

(Retrospective Film Festival) New York, Quad Cinema. A film festival presented by the Italian Department of Culture and Cinecitta' Holding. Produced by Comunicare Organizzando. Role: New York Executive Producer.

Theater

(Theater) New York, The Players Club. Anna has directed a number of plays at the prestigious Players Club in New York City.
